This is a great audience tape, nice, the hall was a echo zone. We had so much fun, this show from 23 years ago, I listen to furthur today & bobby's voice is still so great. He has his days but for the most part he is so young at heart. I was happy to sacrifce so much to be on tour & see the true magic of a show like this. Jerry smoked me at this show. We were right above brents head on jerry's side, small hall 10,000 or less. Great let it grow scalet/fire splatter. After the show they stage crew came out into the parking lot to offer extra birthday cake they were tossing, we had cake & slept in the parking lot in a tent until Philly.

I wish there was a little more bottom end to this recording, but the performance is top notch. Great versions of all songs.

This was the first of fifty Dead shows I attended in my life, and it will always hold a special place in my heart. Additionally and most importantly, it is an amazing show, especially the first-set song selections and the second set "Scarlet-Fire." The booming drum sound in the small (10,000 seat) Roanoke Civic Center is incredible, and Garcia's guitar work during the transition between "Scarlet" and "Fire" makes this well worth multiple listens. This is a gem!

My favorite show! I have special memories of listening to this show. A small venue for east coast standards. Roanoke is in a beautiful setting by the Appalachian Mtns. This is great '87. The first set is loose and trippy. The second set is strongly approached and powerful. Listen to the crowd go nuts, they were having fun that night... There are some cool echo effects on the vocals sprinkled throughout. "truckin'" is hot. "Comes A Time" pulls at the heartstrings. WOW....
